LA GRAFICA ITALIANA DEL '900 with Claudio Pescio e Stefano Rovai
Domenica 24/11 - ore 17:00

To mark the opening of the exhibition La grafica italiana del '900, scheduled for November 24 at 4:00 PM, we will be presenting the accompanying book of the same title, authored by Carlo Vinti and published by Giunti Editore, alongside experts Claudio Pescio and Stefano Rovai.

The Book:

Throughout the 20th century, graphic design played a significant role in shaping the visual landscape of modern Italy. Posters, logos, typefaces, packaging, and magazine and book covers have filled public and private spaces, embedding themselves in Italy’s collective memory. La grafica italiana del '900 provides a critical and chronological exploration of Italian graphic design, including themes and events often overlooked in broader discussions. The book begins with the period between the two World Wars, focusing on the legacy of Futurism and the rationalist graphics of publications such as Casabella and Campo Grafico. It then moves to the post-war era and the economic boom, highlighting key figures like Carboni, Grignani, Huber, Lamm, Klinz, Pintori, Munari, Noorda, Steiner, and Vignelli. The volume also examines the politically engaged designs of the 1970s, exploring themes of public utility and counterculture, and concludes with the last two decades of the century, marked by postmodernism and early experiments in digital design.
