At dawn one morning in 1901 Picasso arrived in Paris. His future began that very day, in that city. Born in Spain on 25 October 1881, Picasso would spend almost his entire life in Paris and yet, in the French capital, he would often feel like a foreigner, an exile, a 'special vigilante' of the police. The docufilm focuses on the journey of a young emigrant, poor but destined to become one of the most important icons of the 20th century. In a continual movement in and out of the Picasso Museum in Paris, the largest existing collection dedicated to the painter with 6,000 masterpieces and 200,000 pieces of archive material, the film follows Picasso in the Parisian neighbourhoods where he lived, from the unheated ateliers of his early days to the large bourgeois flats, those in which his success began: a material and intellectual journey to gain a deeper understanding of his work and spirit.
